About

Frankfurt’s eclectic duo of C-Rock & Matthias Vogt have released records under the moniker of Motorcitysoul for the past three years, putting out on Infracom, Stir15 and LoFi Stereo before this, their first for Aus. Hailing from Germany’s own ‘Motor City’, the pair have developed a reputation for creating soulful and deep house that more than competes with their Stateside counterparts, typified by their celebrated collaboration with vocalist Chez Damier ‘Kids In The Streets’ in 2005. With a host of remixes to come (Fuckaponydelic, Brett Johnson), and their first release on Aus, 2007 promises to be a good year for the duo.Kazan’s taught, tough drums and a chunky sub bass combine with rich analogue lead sequences and a heartfelt string line straight out of the motor city to drive this track to its smiley, sweaty peak…An old school appreciation, futuristic production touches and a real musical pedigree give this real power and more than enough weight to ignite the floor. With My My’s remix the original shines through the fantastically bouncy groove with enough delicate tweaks and flashes of their own sweet melody to make this My My through and through. My My return to Aus following their beautiful release for us ‘Butterflies & Zebras’ last year. And what a year it was…! Lee Jones, Nick Hoppner and Carsten Kleeman have wowed the electronic world with the release of their quietly stunning debut album ‘Songs for the Gentle’ on Playhouse. Since its release last Autumn they have toured live across Europe and will shortly take on the USA and South America before heading to the Mutek festival in June as a featured artist. More releases will follow shortly; a dancefloor destroying remix on BPitch and Lee Jones teaming up with Aus man Will Saul in the very near future.
