About
French innovator Bambounou cooks up maximal feels with restrained deep and dubby house debut on Aus Music
All three tracks are a masterclass in heady, immersive and emotionally charged sounds
Lead single 'D33P' drops on 12th June
Paris-based Bambounou has always straddled worlds - house and techno, the emotional and
the physical, the grounded and the dreamy. For more than 15 years, he's released on the likes of 50Weapons and AD93, remixed everyone from Moby to Sampha and cooked up irresistible club sets across the world. He launched his own label Bambe in 2021 and has released two critically acclaimed albums, as well as branching out with a new solo project Levantarse, where he explores fine-grain textures and shifting forms.
Opener ‘D33P’ sinks you into a sultry late-night world of dubby mid-tempo drums and forlorn synths. Distant vocals drift in and out like fragments of a daydream and deepen the track’s hazy, introspective mood. The candle-lit ‘I Can Send You To Space’ keeps things meditative with a fluid deep house swing. Smeared dub chords bring the warmth while organic percussion flickers between smoky spoken words that land like intimate whispers. Restrained but constantly moving, it’s a sophisticated sound built for cosy back rooms. There's a classic Detroit heat to closing cut ‘Parsons’, which stays deep and enveloping but drives through blurry vocals that swirl romantically through the mix. It's a humid cut charged with synth stabs and dusty hits that make it all the more irresistible to mind, body, and soul.
Bambounou's 'Parsons' EP comes on Aus Music on 3rd July 2026.
