Dustin's Falsetto

About

High-energy UK house talent Ashee explores a different side on a new EP for Aus Music

The falsetto EP features three tracks of loopy and late-night magic
Ashee has mastered the art of crafting high-impact club tracks that are never safe but always characterful. They get the dance floor's attention and keep it with an electric blend of techno, acid, rave, house and garage always served up with a raw punk ethos. As well as high profile Radio 1 support and sets everywhere from Off Sonar to Gottwood, he has landed on labels like Circoloco and Life And Death as well as Aus back in late 2022 with his Shifty EP.

Joseph explains that this EP was "my way of exploring the underground ‘afterparty’ sound. Patient bubblers that don't hinge around a bit moment. Influence from 90s Warp Records, Berlin minimal, UK post-dubstep. Always looping but always changing."

Opener 'Falsetto' brings cosy backroom mischief with a tightly coiled bassline infused with acid and menace vocal mutters. It's the sort of low-key and sleazy sound that gets lips curled and fists pumping in mock disgust. The deep and driving 'Forever' keeps the freaky feels flowing with a swaggering bassline and stripped-back drums that get asses wiggling. It's got plenty of old-school garage attitude but with future-facing synth motifs that bring a cosmic twist. Finally, the brilliantly charming 'Dustin' rides on clipped and funky kick drums that bounce along beneath silky pads. The big fat bassline is cheeky and irresistible while trippy melodic details and subtle vocal fragments all flesh out this most colourful house sound.
