Bwana

Biog

Bwana (aka Nathan Micay) is having a vintage year. Following on from a trilogy of universally praised EP’s for Will Saul’s Aus Music imprint, the young Canadian truly come into his own with the release of his first album, 'Capsule's Pride'. Released on Glasgow's Lucky Me Records, 'Capsule's Pride' is a techno/ambient re-imagining of the classic 1988 anime 'Akira'. The album has received acclaim from outlets such as The Guardian, NPR, The Toronto Star and Resident Advisor and has launched Micay into a unique position between film, scoring and the club. Now working on a number of projects to be released in 2017, it's anyone's guess as to where he'll go next.

As a DJ, he’s only added fuel to the fire. Sets heard at Fabric-London, Panorama Bar in Berlin and Piknic Electronik in Montreal have been lauded for both their diversity and fearlessness. With a bag of vinyl in tow, Bwana’s ability to mix a wide selection of genres has allowed himself to a carve a place where he can just as easily fit onto a bill with fellow Aus artists Midland and Will Saul as he can with house or techno staples like Jennifer Cardini and Scuba.

Now based in Berlin, the future looks as Micay continues to further explore new sounds and ideas, while maintaining an unwavering commitment to his work ethic and quality output.
